Biographical Information Date of Birth: March 6, 1979 in Corinth, MS Employment/Occupation: HE was a Transition coordinator WTB / US Army with the rank of SSG (E-6) for 9 years serving In Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 155th Brigade 2005-2006. Mr. Zackery K. (Zac) Gant was a loving Husband, Father, and friend. He loved being around his family and friends. He loved marksmanship and it was his favorite hobby outside of his family and work accomplishment. He left behind a great legacy in his family and friends. Mr. Gant has received the BAMC “You Make A Difference Award,” was selected as BAMC Warrior Transition Battalion Staff Member of the Quarter and subsequently Staff Member of the Year FY11, and was selected as Southern Regional Medical Command Transition Coordinator of the Year FY12. Mr. Gant Instructed the Automated Comprehensive Transition Program for the Warrior Transition Command Staff Cadre Course certifying more than 1000 Staff Members from organizations world-wide. Mr. Gant took on the fledgling Operation Warfighter Program in San Antonio, Texas with one Federal Agency on board. Within a year, he excelled at planning, preparing, and executing a model program with 40 Federal Agencies serving Warriors in Transition. Mr. Gant coordinated and implemented 10 Hiring Heroes Career Fairs, resulting in over 500 Soldiers interviewing for post-military employment and a large number of second interview offers and some on-the-spot job offers. In preparation for those Fairs, he proofread hundreds of resumes to ensure that each Soldier was equipped for success in their job search and educated both Soldiers and Staff in all aspects of transition operations. Mr. Gant worked closely with multiple outside agencies to provide transition services and job training to Soldiers In Transition, to include Mississippi State University “Digital Forensics” Class and the USO Transition Workshop. His close coordination with the JBSA Family Assistance Center resulted in over 1000 referrals to Army Education Assistance Office and the Office of Personnel Management Federal Management Class. Mr. Gant has been the motivating force emphasizing Soldier and Staff participation in Career Education Readiness (CER), resulting in a maintained CER participation rate at or above 85% of eligible Soldiers. Mr. Gant’s phenomenal performance, dedication, and commitment to Soldiers and this organization stand as unequalled. His departure is considered an irreplaceable loss to the institution. Mr. Zackery K. (Zac) Gant is recognized for Meritorious Civilian Service from June 27, 2011 to March 15, 2014 for his exceptionally outstanding performance as Transition Coordinator for the Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB), Brooke Army Medical Center, Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston, Texas. For the team and has contributed immeasurably to the successful operations of the WTB mission. Mr. Gant’s outstanding contributions are in keeping with the finest traditions of Civil Service and reflect great credit upon him, the Warrior Transition Battalion, Brooke Army Medical Center, and the United States Army.
