William Rudolph Gatlin

William Rudolph Gatlin, 83, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born in Atoka, TN on September 18, 1936 and served his country as a US Air Force Veteran. Bill was affiliated with Flip Flop Promotions which promotes classic car events for Emerald Coast Cruizin and Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruzin. He was a friend to many in the local Corinth community where he was affectionately known as “Monkey Man’. He enjoyed raising Tennessee Walking horses and his work as an engineer and was a member of Tate Baptist Church. Bill will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family and friends. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2019 from 5-8 pm and from 10 am till service time Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Bro. Mickey Trammel. Jeff South will deliver the eulogy. Interment with military honors will follow in Corinth National Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Bill’s memory include his daughters: Tammi Shoger and husband Nathan of Laurenburg, NC, Wanda Gerth and husband Glen of Georgetown, KY, Kimberly McGinnis and husband Kim Love of Olive Branch, MS, and Stacey Adams and husband Mark of Greer, SC; his step-sons: Jeff South of Oxford, MS and Scott South of Memphis, TN; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his brothers: Donnie Gatlin and wife Phyllis of Covington, TN and Jimmy Gatlin and wife Betty of Hernando, MS; his sister: Phyllis Gatlin of Senatobia, MS; his caregiver and longtime friend: Janice Machado; his beloved capuchin monkey: Abigail; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Adrian Gatlin and wife Ruby; his mother: Edith Black and husband Jonas; and by his sister: Janice McCormick.
