Vernon Lee Wooten, 77 of Corinth, passed away on April 28, 2024, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was a cherished member of the Tuscumbia Baptist Church and had an unwavering passion for making connections with people he encountered. His warm personality and love for the outdoors endeared him to many. He was a dedicated assistant at his son's clinic, Shipp and Wooten Eye Center.
Born on September 12, 1946, in Corinth, MS, Vernon led a life filled with diverse interests and hobbies. He found joy in riding horses, engaging in shooting guns, and embracing his inner cowboy spirit. Additionally, his remarkable talent as an artist was admired by all who knew him. Vernon's online presence was also significant as an avid Facebook user.
Vernon will be dearly missed by his surviving family members and friends. He is survived by the love of his life for 58 years, Martha Cummings Wooten; his sons: Chris Lee Wooten and Darwin B. Wooten, MD and wife Terri; grandchildren: Luke Wooten and wife Emile, Heath Wooten, Mariah Wooten, Mark Wooten, and Seth Wooten; great-grandchild: Miles Wooten; sister: Gail Skinner; stepbrother: Randy Floyd and wife Kim; stepsister: Pam Bullock and husband Danny; along with other relatives and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Chris Wooten; mother, Mattie Bell Wooten Floyd; paternal grandparents, Ramer and Jennie Wooten and maternal grandparents, Clyde and Pearl Henson.
Vernon's memory will be honored during visitation services scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Tuscumbia Baptist Church, followed by a Funeral Service at 2pm at Tuscumbia Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Bro. Rodney Whittemore and Bro. Brantson Vuncannon will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Bobo, Randy Bobo, Dewayne Bobo, Chip Skinner, Tony Prather and Eden Brock. His legacy of love and friendship will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
