Funeral services for Vera Jean Ruiz, 90 of Rienzi are set for 11am Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST with interment in Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 5pm-8pm and Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10am until 11am at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST. Bro. Doug Day and Bro. James Voyles will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Joshua Whittemore, Mike Kiddy, Brandon Cummings, Justin Byrd, Uriah Whittemore, Adrian Whittemore, Wesley Whittemore and Austin Cummings. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruben Cummings, Casey Cummings, Jacob Verrell and Tyler Verrell. Born July 20, 1933 in Rienzi, Vera Jean passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was of the Baptist faith and a retired factory worker. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed playing Bingo, watching Golden Girls and game shows, watching the hummingbirds and taking care of her furbabies. In school she loved to play basketball and she was very good at it. Vera Jean is survived by her sons, Charles Whittemore (Theresa) and David Paul Wheeler; daughters, Janice Cummings, Martha Belongia(Lloyd), Charlotte Jones (Steve) and Brenda Byrd; her 3 furbabies, Poncho, Molly and Susie; 14 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; brother, Cecil Evetts; other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Earskin Evetts; mother, Irene Burcham Evetts: sisters, Helen Louise Evetts and Infant Evetts.
