Varnell "Kinky" Smith

Varnell “Kinky” Smith, 89, of Tishomingo, MS passed away at his residence on Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born in Tishomingo, MS on November 14, 1932 to the late C. D. & Bertha Bullard Smith and was a member of Snowdown Church of Christ. He worked in landscaping and carpentry for many years, loved coon hunting, fishing and horses and in his younger years he showed them. His greatest passion was his family and he will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he loved. Magnolia Funeral Home – 72 East is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm Monday, November 22, 2021and 12-2 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2021at Magnolia Funeral Home – 72 East. A Celebration of Kinky’s life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel officiated by Dewey Smith and G.W. Childs. Pallbearers include Tim Rorie, Ethan Rorie, Stone Rorie, Branson Rorie, Drake Rorie and Devin Smith. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Those left to honor Kinky’s memory include his wife of 68 years, Sue Smith; his son, Perry Smith and wife Debbie; his daughter, Brenda Ross; his grandchildren, Terry Smith (Amanda), Shanna Wigginton (Curtis), Jacob Smith (Amber), Brandon Rorie (Amy), and Stephanie McHaffey (David Kinkennon); his great grandchildren, Eithan Rorie (Sara), Stone Rorie (Weedoie), Branson Rorie, Drake Rorie, and Devin Smith; his great great grandchildren, Hadley Rorie and Brayden Rorie; his sisters, Verlene Strickland and Vera Reed; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
