Swain Johnson, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Odessa, Texas on October 25, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 24, 1932 in Tishomingo County, MS to Roy Eldridge Johnson and Samantha Sanders Johnson. He was married on July 2nd 1960, to Della Brooks. He is preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, Tulon Johnson. Swain is survived by his wife of 52 years Della Johnson, his two sons, John (Buzz) Johnson, and his wife Rhonda Johnson of Odessa, TX and Tracy Johnson of Midland, TX. Grand daughter Jessica and husband Technical Sergeant Bruce Land Sr. of Abilene, TX. Grand sons Anthony Johnson of Odessa, TX, Tyler Johnson and Trey Johnson both of Midland, TX. Great grand daughter Taylor Couch and great grand son Bruce Land Jr., of Abilene, TX. and Great grandson Jackson Johnson of Odessa, TX. He is also survived by his twin brother Lain and wife Marie Johnson of Peoria, IL.: sister-in-law, Christine Hathcock Johnson,, Corinth, MS; several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends, and one special friend Michelle from Germantown Hills, IL. Swain moved to Peoria, IL in 1951 and started working for Caterpillar Tractor Company, where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. Swain and Della moved to Odessa, TX in 1991 to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Swain loved his family and his animals. He loved being outdoors and helping other people anyway that he could. He always took care of any stray animal he came across. He and his family built a vacation home in Counce, TN., where they made frequent trips. He enjoyed fishing and being out on the lake whenever he could, and just being with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 12:00 noon till service time at Magnolia Funeral Home in Corinth, MS.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 2:00pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Corinth, MS.
Charlie Browning and family members will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Mark Brooks, Bobby Dunn, Bruce Land, Russell Lawson, Jeff Johnson and Kevin Johnson.
