Shirley Pittman

Shirley Dean Pittman, 70, of Walnut, MS, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born in Tippah County, MS on July 7, 1946 to the late Jerry and Cordie Glisson Wilbanks. Shirley was a member of Christ Temple. She loved serving her Lord and going to her church. Her heart and her life were filled with family, whom she loved dearly. Shirley worked for 18 years at ITT before going back to school to become an RN at the age of 50. Her service as a nurse was characterized by the love those around her knew to expect. Her fur baby "Charlie" knew he was well loved as well. Shirley was loved as deeply as she loved, and the world is richer for her being here. She will be forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation is scheduled to begin at 6 PM Thursday February 2, 2017 at Christ Temple in Walnut, MS. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Christ Temple, officiated by Rev. Craig Wilbanks and Rev. Clay Hall. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Timmy Wilbanks, Brandon Pittman, P. J. Wilbanks, Harley Gay, Tyler Pittman and Dale Pittman. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Shirley's memory include her husband of 53 years: Johnny Ray Pittman of Walnut, MS; her daughters: Tina Wells and husband Russell of Walnut, MS and Amy Overbey and husband Danny of Walnut, MS; her son: Scott Pittman and wife Christi of Dyersburg, TN; her grandchildren: Casey Wells and wife Amanda, Kyle Wells, Brittany Thornton and husband Joseph, Taylor Pittman, Tristian Berrios and Addie Berrios; her great-grandchildren: Raylan Todd Wells and Cayden Wade Bizzell-Jenkins; her brother: L.C. Wilbanks and wife Peggy of Corinth, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by grandson: Bobby Skinner, Jr., her brothers: Clovis Wilbanks and Marshall "Buddy" Wilbanks and her sister: Jewel Holley.
