She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Sherry’s warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Sherry was a homemaker who enjoyed watching the hummingbirds while watching her soap operas. She was passionate about crafts, attending her grandkid's activities, and cherished spending time with her family. She worked for many years at the Iuka Walmart, where her kindness and dedication earned her the affection and respect of her coworkers and the community. Sherry was a member of North Corinth Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Laura Lee Derrick and Dorothy Faye Whitehead (Martin); four grandchildren, Daniel Derrick, Jonathan Derrick, Dalton Whitehead, and Faith Whitehead (Ethan Tutor); two great-grandchildren, Kassidy Whitehead and Nate Tutor; her brother, Kelly Francis (Kelly Ann), brother-in-law Ray Claunch (Penny), and her fur baby: Bandit. Sherry’s caring heart extended beyond her immediate family—she formed special, lasting bonds with many, including Janet Mitchell, who she considered a daughter, and Chloe Mitchell, whom she loved like a granddaughter and a host of extended family and friends. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law whom she loved like a son, Johnny Derrick, and the father of her children Perry Wayne Claunch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross in the Crossroads P.O. Box 42 Corinth, MS 38835. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Sharon “Sherry” Claunch.
