Rufus "Cornbread" Smith

Rufus “Cornbread” Smith, 71, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Methodist Healthcare in Memphis, TN. Born in Acton, TN on April 21, 1951 to the late Paul and Virginia Mitchell Smith, he was owner of Smith Trucking and earlier in life worked at stacking crossties and drove a concrete truck for 23 years. Rufus enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominos, Rook and drinking beer and will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family and friends. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Magnolia Funeral Home – Hwy 45 SOUTH. A Celebration of Rufus’s life will be held at 2 pm Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Magnolia Funeral Home – Hwy 45 SOUTH with interment to follow in Ramer Cemetery. Dr Leonard Pratt and Bro. Rick Wells will officiate the service. Pallbearers include Will Johnson, Two Stack, Lonnie Haney, B.J. Chisler, Dennis Molden, and Matt Martindale.  Honorary pallbearers include Austin Spencer, Lennon Bush, T.J. Riley, Trey Riley, Tory Riley, Stephen Riley, Stacy Riley, Terrance Smith, Gavin Smith, Lee Smith, Steve Studdards, and Cubby Malone. Magnolia Funeral Home – Hwy 45 SOUTH is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Rufus’s memory include his wife of 43 years, Regina Smith; his son, Thomas Paul Smith; his granddaughter, Mollie Grace Smith; his brother, Tim Spencer and wife (Rhnea);  several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Rufus was preceded in death by his son, Paul Dewayne Smith; his brothers, Aaron Lee Smith, Jimmy Dean Smith, Thomas Eugene Smith, and Troy Wayne Smith; and his sisters, Barbara Jane Cummings, Ernie Katherine Studdards, and Patricia Ann Malone.
