Ruby Lee Mills Patterson, 89, died October 13, 2014 at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka, MS. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 1:00 P M at Glendale Baptist Church . Rev. Jack Bennett and Rev Jon Haimes will officiate the service. Visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 11:00 A M until service time at Glendale Baptist Church. She was born September 19, 1925 to the late John R. and Louisey Settlemires Mills of Alcorn County and reared in the Hatchie Community. On July 4, 1942 she married the love of her life, Raymond Lee Patterson, who preceded her in death on June 23, 1998, after almost 56 years of marriage. They resided in the Strickland-Glen communities all their married life. She enjoyed growing big gardens and canning fresh fruits and vegetables. She was a wonderful cook. Her specialty being chicken n dumplings. Her immediate family and her church family looked forward to her wonderful cooking. She was a devoted member of Glendale Baptist Church for 60 years. She dearly loved her family, her church family and all her many friends. Mrs. Patterson is survived by two children and their spouses, Geraldine Mathis (Ronald) and Lewis Junior Patterson (Judith) all of Glen, MS.; four grandchildren, Jeff Patterson (Mary) of Corinth, MS., Julia Patterson of Panama City Beach, FL., Shawn Mathis (K.K.) of Corinth, MS. and Christy Mathis of Glen, MS.; four great grandchildren, DeLauren (D.J.) Sweeney, Heather Patterson, Sam Mathis and Aven Mathis; one great-great grandson, Titus Sweeney; three step-grandsons, Jeff, Jim and John (Renee) Weaver and four step-great-granddaughters, Mary Barham, Claire Cooke, Stevie Mozingo and Katheryn Anton; one sister, Edith Wooley of Tupelo, MS.; three brothers, Lee E. Mills (Nelda), J.C. Mills and Reid Mills (Elaine) all of Corinth, MS.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son Jerry Lee Patterson; a granddaughter, Sharon Denise Patterson; sister, Dorothy Holland and an infant sister Clarice; and seven brothers, Hillie, Bud, Earl, John Rufus, Russell and Jim Mills. Pallbearers will be Larry Cooley, Tommy Gray, Johnny Stevens, Rodney Jeter, Jay Baxter, Don Farr and W.L. Clayton.
