Roy Charlie Johnson, 67, passed away at the Veteran’s Home in Quincy, Illinois on April 23, 2018. He was born in Memphis, TN on October 25, 1950 to Lain and Delphia Marie Johnson. Roy was preceded in death by his son, Lain Johnson, Jr., his father, Lain Johnson, and a sister, Sereta Joan Johnson. Surviving Roy is his mother, Delphia Marie Johnson of Peoria, IL and his brother Timothy (Karen) Johnson, of Peoria, IL. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Alaina Johnson and Olivia Johnson of Peoria, IL and Charli Sue Johnson of Joliet, IL and a nephew, Sam Johnson of Peoria, IL. He also leaves many other family and friends.
Roy was a graduate of Limestone Community High School in Bartonville, IL. He later joined the Army and fought in Vietnam. Roy worked as a welder. He later moved to California for a while before returning to his home in Tennessee.
Roy was known for his friendly outgoing personality and his love of hats. Roy loved animals (especially his dog Bigfoot) and enjoyed raising a variety of them. He will always be remembered for his love of family and friends and having a good time.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 A M at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Center Hill Cemetery in Counce, TN. Bro. Keith Driskell will officiate the service. Visitation will be Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Sam Johnson, Randy Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Tom Parsons and Bud Parsons.
