Rodney Lee Wood, 62, of Corinth, MS, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, October 9, 2015, 2015, at Magnolia Regional Health Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Alcorn Co., MS on December 22, 1952 to the late Garvin "Bud" Wood and Dorothy Plaxico Wood. Rodney was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Ripley, MS. He loved helping people and made it his career, first as an EMT, then firefighter and ending with a long career in law enforcement. Rodney never met a stranger, his favorite pastimes were spending time with his children and grandchildren and riding his Harley with his friends. He was a member of the Iron Warriors and rode the Trail of Tears as well as many other places. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 PM, Saturday, October 10, 2015 and 1 PM until service time Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Rodney's life will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, officiated by Bro. Randy Hurt and Bro. Richie Hatcher. Interment will follow in Vanderford Cemetery. Pallbearers include Lonnie Heavener, Ramon Rangel, Greg Crum, Mike Shipman, Larry Fuqua, Ben Gann, Ralph Dance. Honorary pallbearers include the Corinth Police Department, Ripley Police Department, Booneville Police Department and Ripley Sheriffs Department. Magnolia Funeral Home is caring for the family. Those left to honor Rodney's memory include his son: Sky Wood of Corinth; his daughter: Sunny Wood Grimes and husband Kevin of Corinth; three precious grandchildren: Skylar Wood, Ava Grimes and Jon Tyler Grimes; his mother: Dorothy Plaxico Wood of Corinth; three brothers: Randy Wood and wife Judy, Tim Wood and wife Ramona, and Alan Wood and wife Lisa all of Corinth; two sisters: Sandy Wood Boren and husband Russell, Donna Wood Davis and husband Danny all of Corinth; his special friend: Connie Linville Swinford of Ripley who he always said what a lucky man he was to have met her; Connie's children: Cody Swinford and wife Shelby and Dusty Swinford; other relatives and a host of friends.
