Richard Taylor, 84, of Glen, MS, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born in Terre Haute, IN on January 26, 1932, to the late Raymond and Margaret Goins Taylor and was a member of New Hope Church of Christ. Richard spent his life exploring and enjoying as much of God's creation as he could. Whether in his own front yard, in the middle of Europe, on the Hawaiian Islands, or in any of the places he was sent during his service as a US Navy airman, Richard took with him a resolute faith and a love for all of God's people. He loved spending time on the golf course, watching his Memphis Tigers basketball, and cooking delicious meals, but even more he loved time spent with his family and friends. His memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 PM Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Magnolia Funeral Home and 10 AM till service time Thursday, May 19, 2016 at New Hope Church of Christ. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at New Hope Church of Christ, officiated by Roy Cox. Interment will follow in New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tom Bjornerud, Ricky Holder, Ryan Pace, Charlie Dotson, Royce Dotson, and Steve McCoy. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Richard's memory include his wife of 60 years: Jean Harville Taylor of Glen, MS; his daughters: Terry McCoy and husband Steven of Glen, MS, Shirley Bjornerud and husband Tom of Olive Branch, MS; a special family member: Cynthia Potter of Corinth, MS; his grandchildren: Sara Lindley and husband Shane and Michael Litton and wife Magon; nine great-grandchildren: Ryan Pace, Layla Randolph, Kash Litton, Kamp Litton, Kamilla Litton, Kalvary Litton, Hanna Lindley, Keegan McCoy and Austin Julen; two brothers: Robert Taylor and wife Alice of Bay Shore, TX and Fred Taylor of Deer Park, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Maurice Taylor, Eugene Taylor, and William Taylor; and a sister: Carolyn Taylor.
