Rev. Melvin Laster

A Celebration of Life Service for Rev. Melvin Laster, 69 of Burnsville, MS, will be Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11:00 A M at Mt Olive Church of God with interment to follow in Mt Olive Church of God Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 6pm-9pm at Mt. Olive Church of God.  Rev. Don Boren and Rev. Jerius Maxey will officiate the service. Rev. Laster passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at his residence. He was born September 15, 1955 in Booneville, Ms to Garvin L.C. Laster and Frances Pauline Bain Laster. He was a truck driver for Bonds Construction and a member of Mt Olive Church of God. He enjoyed mowing the yard, fixing things, being outside, antiquing and going to the mountains. He loved preaching, singing, teaching and being with church family. Melvin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nelda Parsons Laster; his son, Kristopher Leon Laster (Melissa); his daughter, Cristy Lawana Laster; two grandchildren, Mitchel Laster (Destiny) and Niena Laster; his sister, Glenda Crowe (Ron); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Garvin Laster; his mother, Pauline Bain Laster and his brothers, Harmon Laster, Ted Laster and W.A. Laster. Pallbearers will be Brad Laster, Jason Laster, Mitchel Laster, Eric Lambert, Anthony Laster, Joey Boren, Eric Boren and Nathan Burcham. Honorary pallbearers will be other nephews and men of Mt Olive Church of God. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Rev. Melvin Laster.
