Ray Gene Holloway

Ray Gene Holloway, 84, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Cherokee, AL on October 5, 1933 to the late Lee and Annie Odom Holloway and was a member of Biggersville First Baptist Church. Ray Gene was employed with Tri State Electric for over 50 years serving last as manager. In earlier years, he served with the volunteer fire department and with the Alcorn County Sheriff Department as a Reserve Deputy for 27 years. Ray Gene was the director of the Emergency Management Agency for many years as well. He loved to fly his planes, enjoyed camping, and spending time with his family and friends. Ray Gene will forever be remembered in the hearts of those he loved. Visitation is scheduled from 5-9 pm Sunday, July 8, 2018 and from 10 am till service time Monday, July 9, 2018 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Ray Gene’s life will be held at 11 am, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Bro. Charlie Cooper and Bro. Rabon Richardson. Interment will follow in Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brenton Mathews, Jeff Holt, Derek Swindle, Johnny Marsh and Bobby Burns. Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Hopkins, Harold Peters, Jimmy Turley, Noah Carper, and Gary Holley. Magnolia Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Ray Gene’s memory include his daughter: Deborah Mathews and husband Doug of Corinth; his son: Danny Gene Holloway and wife Leanna of Corinth; his grandchildren: Blair Holt and husband Jeff, Brenton Mathews, Lauren Swindle and husband Derek, Lydia Carper and husband Noah, and LeeAnn Holloway; his great grandchildren: Sadie Holt, Maylie Holt, Bentley Holt, Gideon Mathews, Preston Swindle, Ella Swindle, and Lealon Carper; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years: Betty Holloway; his parents: Lee and Annie Odom Holloway, and his brothers: Leon Holloway and Hubert Holloway.
