Peachie Quay Parvin died peacefully on March 13, 2025 with those she loved the most nearby in her final days. She was 98 years old.
Peachie was born in a log cabin in Prentiss County MS on Marietta Road on the morning of Easter Sunday April 17, 1926 to Rausie and William “B” Jones. She was the baby of the family and had 5 brothers and sisters, but always thought she was the most special because she was born on Easter Sunday. She was proud of the fact that her daddy named her after a Native American woman her family knew, and her heritage can be traced back to the American Revolution.
Her legacy lives on through her 4 children- Paul (Mary), Margie (Tom), Ricky (Hazel), Mark (April), 10 grandchildren- Paulette (Chris), John (Stephanie), Lisa, Andrea, Denise, Jill (Daniel), Ashley (Adam), Adam (Katie), Megan, Amber (Matthew), 24 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and a sixth on the way.
Peachie attended school in Thrasher until the eleventh grade when she left to marry Ray Parvin. Though their marriage only lasted forty years, it was one she spoke of with fond memories and helped create the five generations of a loving family that loved her dearly.
Her life’s work consisted mostly of caring for her children and the families they created. As a child she worked the fields with her family picking cotton. As an adult she worked cleaning new construction homes.
Peachie was an avid gardener and grew the most beautiful flowers throughout her lifetime. She loved to quilt and sew beautiful things for those she loved. At 98, prior to entering the hospital, she was still making quilts for new grandbabies and her children. She was a phenomenal cook and showed her love to others by feeding them. Homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy, pinto beans and cornbread, and extra sweet tea were her specialties. It was not uncommon to find her sitting around a table with a deck of cards beating her friends and family in Rummy.
Peachie was of the Christian faith and attended churches of various denominations throughout her life. Her family and friends can rest in the comfort of knowing that she knew Jesus and was excited about transitioning to Heaven. In her final days she found comfort in the prayers from her family and scripture read aloud to her.
Peachie will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Her life was long and full of joyous moments in the 98 years God allowed her. The family would like to extend thanks to those who cared for her and comforted her in her final days
