Michael Gene Wickersham passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 ot Magnolia Regional Health Center at the age of 64. He was born May 9, 1947 in Gassville, AR. He graduated from Yellville Summit High School in Yellville, AR in 1965. He attended the University of Central Arkansas on basketball and baseball scholarships where he received his bachelor’s degree. He was head basketball coach in Earle, AR for 2 years and Mark Twain High School in New London, MO for one year. He became an agent for Shelter Insurance in 1973 in Yellville, AR and retired in January 1999. While in Yellville he served 15 years on the Yellville Summit School board and served on the Marion County Nursing Home and Hospital Board, and the Marion County Airport Commission. He also served as Chairman of the building committee of the present sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Yellville where he also served as Sunday School Director and taught Senior High Sunday school and Adult Sunday school classes.
He and Peggy moved to Corinth in 2004 and became members of Oakland Baptist Church, where he has coached Upward Basketball and is presently serving on the finance committee, outside security and is the president of the Wayne Price Sunday School class.
He loved all sports including Arkansas Razorback Basketball and Football and attending Northeast Mississippi Community College basketball games with his friends; Jerry, Harold, Leck Counce, Jerry Hammett and Sam Tull. He especially enjoyed attending Biggersville Senior High boys basketball games.
He is survived by his Wife of 40 years: Peggy Little Wickersham – Corinth, MS
