Mergie Switcher Duncan

Mergie Switcher Duncan, 86, of Rienzi, MS, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center - Tupelo. She was born in Alcorn County, MS on November 27, 1933 to the late Herman & Ruth Bragg Switcher. She was a member of Union Baptist Church & worked for many years as a seamstress. Mergie will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation is scheduled from 5-9 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Magnolia Funeral Home & from 1 PM till service time Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Union Baptist Church. A celebration of Mergie’s life will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Union Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Raybon Richardson. Pallbearers include Kirk Robinson, Kevin Ellis, Dylan Ellis, Bradley Stephens, Dawson Godsey, Brian Michael, & Wesley Gann. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Mergie’s memory include her children: Cathleen Praytor & husband Jerry of Cullman, AL, Matthew Duncan & wife Jackie of Red Bay, AL, Joan Jones & husband Jessie of Rienzi, MS, Danny Duncan & wife Kaye of Rienzi, MS & Tina Godsey of Rienzi, MS; her grandchildren: Bobby Smith (DeLena), Christy Ellis (Kevin), Brian Michael, Joey Duncan (Connie), Angel Robinson (Kirk), Tonya Duncan, Heather Gann (Wesley), Whitney Scott (Austin), Kayla Lowery (Kyle), Allyson Gooch (Ryan Hall), Brittany Stephens (Bradley), Tiffany Godsey (Tyler Burgess), Dawson Godsey, Alycia Brown (Tony), Shawna Thompson (Chris) & Chad Allen (Andrea); 31 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; her sisters: Shirley Voyles & Myra Hamlin both of Corinth; other relatives & a host of friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Alfred Duncan; her son: Jerry Duncan & her brothers: Curtis Switcher & Billy Wayne Switcher.
