A private family graveside service will be held for Max O’Neil Butler, 81 of Corinth, MS.
On August 2nd, 2021, after a protracted battle, Max O’Neil Butler succumbed peacefully at Country Cottage. Born on April 14th, 1940 in Alcorn County and educated in Kossuth and later Booneville, he settled into a vigorous life in Corinth, working for and eventually retiring from ITT. His achievements were as varied as his interests and he pursued each with passion. Be it bowling, golf or auto-racing, he always strived for excellence. Max was a member of the Baptist faith and a Mason and dedicated many hours to teaching youth the game of golf. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce Bragg and Effie Dunn Butler. He is survived by his siblings, Ginna Bumpus of Corinth and Jimmy Lane Butler of Akin, South Carolina; his daughter, Shelley Lankford of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Bruce Butler of Oxford, Mississippi; and grandchildren Flannery, Ruby and Johann, all of Atlanta, Georgia.
