Mary Emily Shook McKelvey, 89 of Corinth, MS, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at her grandson’s home in Glen, MS. A private family service will be Sunday, January 10, 2021. Interment will be at Lowery Methodist Church Cemetery in Ripley, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel. Mrs. McKelvey was born March 6, 1931 in Baldwyn, MS to Lish Shook and Lou Angie Peters Shook. She was a retired line operator for Wurlitzer. Later she worked at World Tech/Ledo building cabinets and was a member of Mills Community Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Mary is survived by her son, Billy Wayne McKelvey and wife Susan of Rienzi, MS.; her bonus son, Danny Shook and wife Annette of Corinth, MS; 3 grandchilden, Christie McKelvey of Rienzi, MS, Missy Hicks and husband Jason of Saltillo, MS and Jason Edward McKelvey of Glen, MS; 4 great grandchildren, Christian Hurt and Bianca, Hunter Hurt, Alyssa Yancey and husband Brandon, and Dominick Singleton; 3 great great-grandchildren, Paisley Hurt, Emmy Hurt and and Rylan Yancey; daughter-in-law, Sherry McKelvey of Glen, MS; brother-in-law, Eugene McKelvey of Memphis, TN; sisters-in-law, Shirley McKelvey of Marietta, MS and Sandra Shook of Horn Lake, MS; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Edward “Mack” McKelvey; her sons, Tommy Lovoid McKelvey and Cleveland Edward McKelvey, Jr.; her granddaughter, Denise Singleton; her father, Lish Shook; her mother, Lou Angie Peters Shook; her brothers, Olen Lee Shook and wife Dorothy, Ralston Lovoid Shook and A. Lionar Shook; her father-in-law, Thomas Franklin McKelvey; her mother-in-law, Candace Lenora Walker McKelvey; her brothers-in-law, Roy Franklin McKelvey, William Doyle McKelvey, Charles Howard McKelvey and Eugene Gates; her sisters-in-law, Ann McKelvey, Elizabeth Maybell Gates, Shirley McKelvey, Viola Purvis, Sandra Shook, Mary Virginia Davis and Candace McKelvey. Pallbearers will be Phillip Shook, Lucas Wooten, Brian Shook, Alex Wooten, Michael Shook and Brandon Yancey. Honorary pallbearers will be Vance Robertson, Charles Robertson and Dominick Singleton.
