Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ruth Mathis, 84, of Walnut, MS are set for Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11 am at New Covenant Christian Assembly Church in Falkner with interment in Community Pentecostal Church in Walnut. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 starting at 5:00 pm at New Covenant Christian Assembly Church. Rev. Jamie Basden, Rev. Chad Bateman and Rev. Tim Wilbanks will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Tyler Mathis, Ashton Armstrong, Evan Norvell, Cayden Armstrong, Nick Duncan and Jeff Welch.  Born February 27, 1938 in Ripley, MS, Mary Ruth passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Diversicare of Ripley. She is a retired factory worker and a member of New Covenant Christian Assembly Church. Mary Ruth loved her family and friends and enjoyed working in her flower garden, going to yard sales, cooking and going to church. Magnolia Funeral Home - East is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Mary Ruth's memory include her sons, Titus Mathis and wife Amy and Darrell Mathis and fiancé Dana Drake; her daughter, Amanda Wright and husband Tony; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Mathis (Jenna), Briana Armstrong (Jeff), Katie Mathis (Nick), Ashton Armstrong (Rachel), Briley Mathis (Evan) and Cayden Armstrong; 2 great grandchildren, Oakley Mathis and Charli Nelson and 2 more on the way; brothers, Cecil Walker and Arthur Walker; sisters, Marie Bragg, Nelda Carter and Dorothy Latch (Mike); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mathis; father, Jasper Walker; mother, Vadie Pannell Walker; brothers, James Walker, Joe Walker and Ken Walker and sister, Louise Rorie.
