Marlin "Monk' Jones

Marlin “Monk” Jones, 87, of Walnut, MS, passed away at his residence on Friday, April 14, 2017. Service for Mr. Jones will be on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at New Covenant Christian Assembly in Faulkner, MS, with burial to follow in Community Pentecostal Cemetery, Walnut, MS. Bro. Titus Mathis and Bro. Fred Wilbanks will be officiating the service. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 5-9 pm at New Covenant Christian Assembly in Faulkner, MS. He was born on February 19, 1930, in Alcorn County, MS. He worked in the logging business, and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Survivors include: Sons: Presley Jones (Shirley), William Jones, Brandon Jones (Dina), Jerry Jones, and Josh Smith (Chelsea), all of Walnut; Daughters; Dorothy Crum (Leland), Elaine Spencer, Evelyn Dixon (Harold), Debra Turner (Kenny), Vicky Clark, Loretta Hawkins, and Tonya Vick (Ricky) all of Walnut; Grandchildren: 40; Great-Grandchildren: 98; Great-Great-Grandchildren: 25; Brother: L.D. Hudson (Linda) of Ripley, MS; Sisters: Jane Keel (Jerry) of Corinth; Helen Soykes of Walnut; Joan Butler (Charles) of Corinth and Cynthia Hudson of Kossuth; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Kevin Haygood, Dwight Haygood, Ricky Vick, Doug Watson, Cannon Hawkins, and Frankie Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Smith, Brandon Jones, Josh Russell, Martin Watson, Scottie Jones, and T. J. Richardson. He was preceded in death by his Wife of 64 years, Martha Lou Wilbanks Jones; Sons: Marlin Hugh Jones and Terry Jones; Father: David Hudson; Mother: Jewel Jones; Brothers: Clinton Hudson, R.G Hudson, James Edward Hudson, Gene Hudson, and Willie Jones; and Sister: Evon Stevens.
