Marie Bragg Wilburn, 97 passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Landmark Nursing Home in Booneville, MS. Marie was born May 29, 1922 in Corinth, MS where she lived until she was no longer able to live alone. She was the daughter of the late William Jasper and Mizzie Henderson Bragg.
Marie was a devoted member of Tate Baptist Church in Corinth where she served as the church hostess for Wednesday evening meals. She met some of her closest friends at Tate and enjoyed traveling with them on senior trips. She also worked at various businesses during her lifetime including Weaver’s Pants Factory, James Mitchell’s shirt factory, and ended her work career at ITT where she retired in her early 60s to enjoy her children and grandchildren. Two highlights of her life were her trips to Hawaii (where she received a kiss from Don Ho) and New York City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Mizzie Bragg; her husband, James Elbert Wilburn; her daughter, Shirley Wilburn Rogers; her son-in-law, James Rogers; her sisters, Bertha Ray and Christine Ray; one brother, William Bragg; and one great grandchild, Clayton Wilburn.
Marie is survived by two sons, Billy Wilburn (Barbara) of Booneville, MS and James Carrol Wilburn (Glenda) of Corinth, MS; one daughter, Linda Wilburn McFall of Madison, MS: son-in-law, Dan McFall; and one sister, Doris Austin of Denver, CO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Cindy Rogers Goldman (Jerry) of Birmingham, AL, Tammy Wilburn McKinney of Booneville, MS, Tony Wilburn (Lynn) of Corinth, MS, Tim Wilburn (Linda) of Booneville, MS, Joe Christopher Wilburn (Jamie) of Lafayette, LA, Jonathan Wilburn of Corinth, MS, Nick Wilburn of Corinth, MS, Keith Wilburn of Corinth, MS and Mandi Burgess of Madison, MS. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with interment to follow at Magnolia Gardens. Charlie Browning will officiate the service. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M and Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 1:00 P M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandson: Tony Wilburn, Tim Wilburn, Joe Wilburn, Jonathan Wilburn, Keith Wilburn and Nick Wilburn. Honorary Pallbearers will be her former Sunday School Class at Tate Baptist Church taught by Vicki Shirley.
