On November 17, 2024, the Lord welcomed his precious daughter and servant, Lundy Boyd Carpenter, into her new heavenly home.

She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Dr. Allen and Janis Boyd. She had many fond memories of growing up with her brother, Dan, who showered her with a level of kindness and gentleness that is highly unusual for an older sibling. She also enjoyed growing up in Gwynne Cove and playing with her childhood friend, Leigh (Clark) Van Vulpen, with whom she stayed close friends throughout her life.

Lundy was an intelligent, high-achieving woman. After graduating from Evangelical Christian School in 1989, she went on to obtain her BA from Baylor University in 1993 and her JD from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law in 1997. She began her law career by serving as a judicial law clerk for the United States Bankruptcy Court and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. After taking a break from law to raise her son, she returned to the legal field by serving as an adoption attorney for Weaver & Craig, P.C. Later, she followed in her father’s footsteps by becoming an RN and serving patients in the operating room.

She met her husband, Steve, at church in late 1999. After a brief courtship, they were married on September 16, 2000. Lundy was a wonderful, amazing wife who brought joy and laughter to her marriage and her home. On May 21, 2003, she gave birth to her son, Joseph, and provided him with a warm, loving environment in which he was able to grow up and thrive.

Her passing is a hard blow to those who knew her as the sweet, kind-hearted, beautiful soul she was. But even as we mourn her passing, we know that Lundy loved the Lord with all her heart, and we can take comfort in knowing that she is resting in the arms of Jesus. Her suffering is over, and she is truly at peace in God’s presence.

Lundy was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Allen Boyd, and is survived by her husband, Steve; her son, Joseph; her mother, Janis Boyd; her brother, Dr. Dan (and Teresa) Boyd;  her mother and father -in-law, Charles and Sandra Carpenter; her brother-in-law, Chuck (and Angie) Carpenter; her brother-in-law David (and Tanya) Carpenter; her nephew, Andrew Carpenter, and her nieces, Rachel Grace Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter, and Madalyn Carpenter, along with many other friends and loved ones.

Gifts in her memory can be made to Rossville Church (Rossville, Tennessee), to Voice of the Martyrs, or to Samaritan’s Purse. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Lundy Boyd Carpenter.
