Loyd David Cox, age 87, of Rienzi, died at his home on Friday, July 31, 2020. Mr. Cox was born December 29, 1932, east of Rienzi, where he lived his entire life. Mr. Cox was a farmer, raising crops and timber. He began his farm life as a young boy plowing with mules. As an adult, he enjoyed tilling the soil with his tractors. Mr. Cox believed in hard work and taking care of the land God placed in his care. He could take an unproductive piece of land and passionately care for it until it would bear fruit from his labors. He loved watching all things grow, from his children and grandchildren, to his crops and timber. He was quick to tell everyone his wife “Lizzy” worked side-by-side with him from the moment they married. He enjoyed telling the story of their winding journey through their life’s adventures. And what a journey it was. Mr. Cox was a Deacon and a member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Corinth, MS. He enjoyed fellowship with his pastors and his church family.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Storey Cox; his children, David Cox of Cincinnati, Ohio; Lisa Cox Hull of Philadelphia, MS; Junior Cox (Lisa) of Rienzi; Jerry Cox (Carolyn) of Rienzi; Grandchildren, Shannon Hyde (Todd), Trexler Hull, Shaye Stephenson (Jody), Jeremy Cox, Jon Cox, Baleigh Hull, and Anna Cox; and one Great Grandson Justin Hyde.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Jerry and Eddie Cox; his sister Mary Glen; and Great Grandson Garrett Hyde.
