Visitation: Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Friday, June 15, 2012 from 10:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church. Everything will be at the church.
Biographical Information
Date of birth: August 26, 1924
Employment/Occupation/Bio: He was an Accountant with ITT in Chicago, IL., who moved his family to set up the accounting department for the ITT Telecommunications manufacturing operation in Corinth, MS in 1964. He held various management positions at ITT including assistant controller and materials manager until his retirement in 1985 with over 30 years of service.
Education: He held a Masters Degree in Accounting.
Military: He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, who fought in the following battles and campaigns, Normandy, Ardennes, Northern France, Air Offensive Europe, Central Europe, Rhineland. He was awarded 6 Bronze Stars for the above listed campaigns and the Good Service Medal.
Church Affiliation: He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Leo was very generous and considerate in volunteering his time helping others through various organizations which included AARP Tax Aid, Literacy Council, Red Cross, Sharing Hearts Alzheimer’s Group, Hospice and CYO. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus. He received the Spirit of Service Award given by the Alliance for community service. He gave of himself freely and never hesitated to step in whenever he saw a need. He will be Greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his Wife of 65 years: Alice June Byrne Prussia – Corinth, MS
Son: Stephen Leo Prussia and wife Lynn- Conroe, Texas
Daughters: Margot Prussia Orman and husband Jason – Corinth, MS; Beth Prussia Day and husband David- Bartlett, TN; Nancy PrussiaMerritt and husband Toney- Healdsburg, CA
5 Grandchildren: Whitney Prussia, Dan Orman and wife Christine, Eric Orman, Amy McAlpin, Justin Olson and wife Katie
Great Grandchildren: Connor Orman, Emma Olson, Graham Olson
Several Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives and a host of friends
In Lieu of Flowers memorials can be made to the Amen Food Pantry, St James Social Services or a charity of your choice.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Leo Z. and Anna Carll Piraro Prussia
