Leeta Brawner Perkins, 86 of New Albany, MS formerly of Corinth, MS, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023. She was born December 20, 1936 in Biggersville, MS to Frances and Leslie Phillips. She graduated from Kossuth High School and Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. She was a member of Harper Road Christian Church for many years and after moving she became a faithful member of First United Methodist of New Albany.
Leeta will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, her “matter of fact” attitude, her love and pride of nursing, her enjoyment of golf, love of all animals (especially Dumplin) and most of all her faith in God and how she loved and cared for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Perkins, her first husband, James William Brawner, her parents, Leslie and Frances Phillips, her sister, Betty Ketcham and her step daughter, Cathy Perkins. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Prater (AL), step daughter, Cindy Heying (Chris), stepson, Chris Perkins (Sharon), her grandchildren, Allie Judkins (Jud) Hannah Prater, Leeta Ann Prater; step grandchildren, Sarah Perkins, Mary Grace Heying, John Luke Heying and Patrick Heying; great grandchildren, Libby and Amelia; other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Monday, February 13, 2022 from 11:00 A M to 12:30 P M at First United Methodist Church in New Albany, MS. Funeral Service will be Monday, February 13, 2023 at 2:30 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home- South with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens. On line condolences may be made at magnoliafuneralhome.net.
