Larry Brinkley passed away on February 6, 2016 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was in the music business and co-wrote “Man of the House” for Loretta Lynn and “Dusty Roads” for Norma Jean. He then went into Law Enforcement where he served for over 30 years. He held two elected positions, Constable of Alcorn County and Chief of Police in Corinth. He retired from the City of Booneville as Police Chief. After retirement he loved writing songs, and he and his wife (Karen) loved going to auctions. He demonstrated his love for his family by having a home built for his parents.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Almous Brinkley and Elzie Mae Cooper Brinkley; and one brother, Kenneth Brinkley.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Karen Brinkley of Rienzi, MS.; one brother, Gerald Hardin and wife Sadie of Burnsville, MS.; nephews, Greg Hardin and wife Denise of Prentiss County, MS. and Kenny Brinkley; great nephews, Jonathon Hardin and wife Crystell of Memphis, TN., Anthony Hardin and wife Anna of Dumas, MS. and Todd Brinkley of Jacinto, MS.; great nieces, Julie Green and husband Josh of Thrasher, MS. and Susan Brinkley; great great-nephews, Haze Hardin and Jake Hardin; and great great-nieces, Eliza Hardin, Elysa Hardin and Aimree Brinkley
Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 1:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M and Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 11:00 A M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gaston Cemetery. Bro. Titus Tyre will conduct the service with Nobel Williams delivering the eulogy.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Duncan, Ralph Dance, David Lancaster, Randle Castille, Chris Davis and Greg Hardin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jonathon Hardin, Anthony Hardin, Josh Green, Larry Green, Niel Campbell, Michael Holland and John Holland.
Magnolia Funeral is in charge of arrangements.
