June Peters

June Peters, 71, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born on June 18, 1948 in Corinth, MS to the late Jack and Evaline Rickman and graduated from Kossuth High School in 1966. June was a former student at Northeast Community College, Freed-Hardeman University and Mississippi State University and received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Crescent City Christian College in New Orleans. In 1979, she helped organize Superior Home Health Care (later known as Magnolia Home Health & Hospice) and served as a member of its board of directors in 1979. She joined the agency full time in 1980 to oversee agency financial matters. She became Director of Home Health and Hospice Department at MRHC in 1989. She was an active member of Pleasant Hill United Pentecostal Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, song director and was an original member of the Lady’s Trio. June enjoyed cooking for family and friends, singing in church and working in her flower beds and yard but most of her retirement years were spent following J.R. and Sarah Kate around to all of their activities. “Mimi” loved and was loved by all of their friends. She was most famous for her teacakes that she often shared with everyone. June will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 pm Tuesday, November 26, 2019 and 10 am till service time Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Pleasant Hill United Pentecostal Church. A celebration of June’s life will be held at 11 am Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Pleasant Hill United Pentecostal Church officiated by Rev. Dewayne Kirk. Pallbearers include Mark Gardner, Ernie Mitchell, Tony Kirk, Steve Glidewell, Brian Langley, and Gaylon Hopper. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor June’s memory include her husband of 53 1/2 years: Harold Peters of Corinth; her daughter: Christy Burns and husband Bobby of Corinth; her grandchildren: J.R. Burns and Sarah Kate Burns; her sister: Mary Alice Mitchell of Corinth; her brothers: Larry Rickman and wife Freida, Terry Rickman and wife Betty, and Eddy Rickman and wife Gale all of Corinth; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. June was preceded in death by her son: Gary Dewayne Peters; her parents: Jack and Evaline Rickman; and her brother-in-law: Bobby Mitchell.
