Julia Moffitt Potts passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, and went to be with our Lord after an extended battle with cancer. She was 73 years old and born in Alcorn County on September 21, 1943 to Clifton and Lottie B. Moffitt. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 2:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be Monday, August 28, 2017 from 6:00 P M to 8:00 P M and Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 1:00 P M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Bro. Raybon Richardson will conduct the service and burial will be at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
She Graduated from Kossuth High School in 1961 where she excelled in basketball, FHA and Academics. She was team captain cheerleader for football, valedictorian her senior year and was elected Miss Kossuth High. After graduation she attended NEMJC and received her RN license in 1963. She worked for a short time at the Starkville Hospital, Magnolia Hospital, and served as Director of Nursing for many years at what is now known as Cornerstone Health & Rehab Nursing Home. She continued to work there part time until her health failed. She was a faithful member and teacher of the Bible at Union Baptist Church for many years. She loved her family, Work, Church, flowers & and her gardens.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by them and everyone else who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Potts of Corinth, MS; her four children, Jethlynn McCraw and husband Terry of Hickory Flatt, MS; Jenessa Surles and husband Reggie of Mineral Springs, GA; Jeniece Davis and husband Roger of Corinth, MS; and Jason Potts and wife Pam of Kossuth, MS; her seven grandchildren who knew her a Me-Mom, Kim Kuykendall, Kelly Parnell and husband Matthew, Emily Burcham and husband Hunter, Keri Crum, Kaitlin Crum, Julia Davis and Leeah Davis; her brother, James Moffitt and wife Kay Biggersville, MS: her sister, Nellie Epps and husband Jim of Tupelo, MS; her brother-in-Law, John Potts, Sr. and wife Carolyn of Kossuth, MS, and sister-in-law, Sara Potts Kidd and husband Kenneth; other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Oliver Moffitt and Lottie B. Suitor Moffitt, a infant brother, Clifton Oliver Moffitt, Jr., and a nephew Brian Tindoll.
Pallbearers will be Walt Moffitt, Chris Craig, John Potts, Jr., Wesley Potts, Benjamin Potts, and Dusty Bradford.
