Joyce Wanda McKenney, 87, of Walnut, MS, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born in DeRidder, LA on November 25, 1928 to the late Carl and Celeste Harvey Naylor. Joyce spent her life loving her family. She was a constant source of joy to everyone who knew her, and even as her health deteriorated she didn't complain. Her joyful spirit was embodied by the nickname, GiGi, that her great grandchildren gave her. As a voracious reader, Joyce traveled the world and lived more lives than her own through her books, but her favorite place was always home with her family. Her impact will not be forgotten. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Magnolia Funeral Home is caring for the family. Those left to honor Joyce's memory include her daughters: Celeste Ivey and husband Glen of Rio Frio, TX and Linda Scott and husband John of Walnut, MS; 5 grandchildren: Glenda Ross, Jim Ivey, Greg Ivey, John Scott Jr., and Lindsay Scott; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Bob McKenney; her son: Mark Hultz; her brothers: Red Naylor, J.D. Naylor and Harvey Naylor; and a sister: Lois Mitchell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Corinth Public Library 1023 N. Fillmore Street Corinth, MS 38834. Online condolences may be expressed at magnoliafuneralhome.net.
