A Celebration of Life service for Joy Borden, 81 of Cordova, TN is set for Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 2:00pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with interment in Snowdown Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 12:30 pm until service time at the funeral home. Born January 2, 1938 in Tishomingo County, MS, Joy passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 after a long illness in Memphis, TN with her family by her side. Joy graduated from Burnsville High School with a license in Cosmetology. Later she attended N.E.M.C.C. where she received her associates degree in nursing. Joy retired from Magnolia Regional Health Center as a nursing supervisor with 32 years of service. She was always involved in the groundbreaking innovations in the field of nursing. She received many awards and accolades during her career. Joy proudly tended to the care of others through nursing and was on the forefront of Modern healthcare as it grew in the Alcorn County Region. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Cindia Borden of Cordova, TN; brothers, Chester Lovelace and wife Faye of Tishomingo, MS and Eugene Lovelace and wife JoAnn of Burnsville; sisters: Shirley Pounders of Dennis, Ms, Ida Robertson and husband Vance of Collierville, TN and Genevia Lovelace of Iuka; numerous nieces, nephew, other relatives and a host of friends. Joy is preceded in death by her father, George W. Lovelace; mother, Melvia Walters Lovelace and her brothers, Lee Roy Lovelace and wife Ruth and Truman Lovelace. Dr. Randy Bostick will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Brad Robertson, Jeff Lovelace, James Lovelace, Keith Lovelace, Robin Lovelace and Chris Latch.
