John Edward “Jackie” Walker passed away on January 12, 2020, at his home in Glen, MS, following a brief illness. Jackie was born June 16, 1943, the son of Victor and Pallie Hyde Goode Walker in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, TN. Following his graduation and his marriage to Betty Jo Bizzle, of Memphis, TN, he served in the US Army as a computer programmer at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He worked the better part of his life as a long-haul truck driver.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty Jo of Glen, MS; daughter, Rene Walker Williams (Dr. Jim), son, Darrell Walker, all of Trenton, TN; six grandchildren, Abigail Williams of Nashville, TN, Annabel Williams of Louisville, KY, Tyler Heavener (McKinley), Evan Gibens (Stacy) and Nathan Gibens (and friend Taylor Spencer), all of Corinth, MS, and Kade Walker, of Trenton, TN and son-in-law, Ricky Gibens of Corinth. He is also survived by brother Alvin “Bud” Walker (Suzy) of Memphis; sisters, Carolyn McKinney, of Oakland, TN, Betty Ann Prichard (Jim) of Victoria, TX, and Charlotte Forsythe (David) of Guntersville, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jackie is preceded in death by his daughter, Pallie Denise Gibens; parents, Victor Edward and Pallie Hyde Goode Walker and his brother, William “Bill” Walker.
Jackie will most be remembered by telling everyone he came in contact with, “God loves you, and I love you too.”
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Glendale Baptist Church and service to follow at 2:00pm at Glendale Baptist Church with Military Honors, with Magnolia Funeral Home of Corinth, MS, in charge. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Glendale Baptist Church, 2478 US Hwy. 72, Glen, MS, 38846. Bro. Jon Haimes will officiate the service.
