Funeral services for John Robert Rorie, 69, of Burnsville, MS, are set for Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Burnsville, MS at 3:00pm. Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 2015 from 5pm-9pm at Magnolia Funeral Home and Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 12 noon until service time at Harmony Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Harmony Hill Baptist Church w/Military Honors. Mr. Rorie passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at North Mississippi Medical Center- Tupelo. Born September 28, 1945, he was a brick mason and he was retired from the United States Army with 39 years, 4 months and 21 days of service. He was a member of Burnsville Masonic Lodge # 233 F& A.M., American Legion, Burnsville Fire Department and Tishomingo County Fair Board, He was Burnsville Citizen of the year 2013 and a Christian and he attended Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Rorie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Timbes Rorie of Burnsville; his son Terry Rorie and wife Allison of Burnsville; 2 daughters, Sherry Barnes and husband James of Burnsville and Lynette Crum and husband Wayne of Glen; 6 grandchildren, Dillan Rorie, Amelia Rorie, Paisley Barnes, Autumn Barnes, Ellen Crum and Hannah Crum; 2 brothers, Doyle Rorie and wife Mary Ann of Burnsville and Joe Rorie and wife Laura of Bay City, TX; 2 sisters, Brenda Castile and husband Charlie of Glen, MS and Martha Holland of Michie, TN; other relatives and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ira Lee Rorie; his mother, Pearl Robbins Rorie and his brother, Earnest Rorie.
Pallbearers will be the U. S Military which include SGT Major Brian Belue, SGT 1st Class Terry Jaynes, 1st SGT Jerry Gray, Staff SGT Talmadge McAnally, SGT 1st Class Christopher Story and Staff SGT Glen Marsh.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Ezell, Jack Tackett, Cleston Burcham, Randy Floyd, Jessie Lambert, Truman Williams, Gerald Glidewell, Billy Wayne Barnes, Mark Farris and Richard Pharr.
Bro. Mark Jones , Bro. Clark Whitten, Staff SGT Talmadge McAnally, Staff SGT Mark Farris and Truman Williams will officiate the service.
