Funeral services for Joel D. Peters are set for Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Military Honors with burial in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 5pm-8pm and Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Candy Rickman will deliver the eulogy and Rev. Mike Brown will officiate the service. Born June 30, 1930 in Alcorn County, MS,. Mr. Peters was a construction worker and he also worked as a security guard at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a U. S. Army veteran where he served as CPL and he was a member of First Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Russell Peters of Corinth; his daughter, Gale Rickman and husband Eddy of Corinth; grandchildren, Candy Rickman of Hattiesburg and Nick Rickman and wife Katie of Corinth; great grandchildren. Maddox, Cutler and Oakli Rickman; brothers, David Peters and wife Ann, Donnie Peters and wife Glenda and Harold Peters and wife June all of Corinth; sister, Shirley Embrey and husband James of Corinth; other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Joel Dewayne Peters; father, Richard Peters; mother, Ruby Jackson Peters; and a brother, Ray Peters.
Pallbearers will be Terry Rickman, Larry Rickman, Patrick Carpenter, Bobby Burns, Ricky Smith and Marty Austin.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Alcorn County Humane Shelter.
