Joe Powell

Joe Powell, 63, of Rienzi, MS, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born in Alcorn County, MS on January 20, 1954 to the late Jack and Vernell Nash Powell and graduated from Biggersville High School in 1972. Joe retired from Kimberly Clark after 33 years of service as a process specialist. He loved hunting and wildlife and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe will be forever remembered in the hearts of his family and friends. Visitation is scheduled for 5 - 8 pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 and from 10 am until service time Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 11 am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Bro. Mike Green and Bro. Larry Murphy. Interment will follow in Old Danville Cemetery. Pallbearers include Chris Clement, James Jones, Randy Hastings, Greg Meeks, Phillip Meeks and Ron Troxell. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Joe's memory include his wife of 35 years: Brenda Powell of Rienzi, MS; his son: Greg Meeks and wife Kim of Rienzi, MS; his daughters: Martha Little and husband Jason of Corinth, MS and Carol Troxell and husband Ron of Rienzi, MS; his grandchildren: Amber Scott, Megan Rhodes, Phillip Meeks, Hailey Troxell, Allie Troxell, Zackary Roach, Joshua Troxell, Kayla Troxell, Landon Roach, Emylee Roach; his great-grandchildren: Kyrstin Troxell, Kimberly Troxell and Aubree Blair; his sister: Joyce Clement and her son Chris of Rienzi, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Vernell Nash Powell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West Clinic Cancer Center 2001 State Dr. Corinth, MS 38834.
