Joseph Lin "Papaw Joe" McNair, Sr., 67, of Glen, MS left this world to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Alcorn County, MS on March 5, 1949, Joe attended Alcorn Central High School. While serving in the United States Army he did a tour in Vietnam. Joe served his country with pride and was extremely proud of his Southern American heritage. He retired from the Corinth Gas and Water department after 32 years of service and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed going to gospel singings, family gatherings and the Great Smokey Mountains. He was known for helping others without hesitation. Visitation is scheduled for 9 am until service time Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Magnolia Funeral Home. A celebration of Joe's life with military honors will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories officiated by Bro. Bob Cossey and Bro. Warren Jones. Interment will follow in Corinth National Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Joe's memory include his loving wife of 48 years, whom he loved more than life: Martha McNair of Glen, MS; his daughter: Marsha McNair Harris of Glen, MS; his son: Lin McNair and wife Cedailua of Glen, MS; his grandchildren: Trey McNair, Matt McNair and Hannah Harris; his sister: Brenda Cox of Rienzi, MS; his niece: Andrea Harris and husband Tim of Rienzi, MS; his great niece: Maddie Potts of Burnsville, MS; his very best friend: Richard Montgomery and wife Catherine of Corinth, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother: Mary Sue Smith; his stepfather: Cleveland Smith; his father: Jesse McNair; and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund 1235 South Clark Street Suite 910 Arlington, VA 22202 or the charity of choice.
