Joan Faye Mitchell Morton

A Celebration of the life of Mrs. Joan Faye Mitchell Morton, 83 of Corinth is set for Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 1:00pm at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 12:00pm until service time at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. Born March 2, 1935 in Kossuth, MS., Mrs. Morton passed away at her home on Thursday, November 8, 2018. She was a bookkeeper for Security Bank in Corinth, Ms, Deposit Guaranty in Memphis, TN , was Co-Owner of Joan Morton Trucking, and worked at Biggersville High School for 15 years. She graduated from Kossuth High School. Joan was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, working in her yard and riding her golf cart. Her family will always remember her nurturing spirit. Joan is survived by her sons: Walter Carroll Morton, Jr. (Tammy) of Biggersville, MS and Harold Ray Morton (Yvette) of Biggersville, MS; daughters: “Hope” Darlene Morton of Biggersville, MS and Susan “Diane” Daughtry of Biggersville, MS; 9 Grandchildren: Samantha Daughtry Taylor (Bart), Joseph Russell Daughtry (Whitley), Matthew Kyle Daughtry (Kristy), Jae Morton, Ava Kristin Morton Harmon (Tim), Katelyn Elizabeth “Katie Beth” Morton, Allie Palmer, Emma Margaret Morton and Putter Hamlin (Brooke); 18 Great-Grandchildren; brothers: Lionel D. Mitchell, Jr. of Kossuth, MS, Larry Mitchell (Barbara) of Kossuth, MS, Gary Mitchell (Linda) of Kossuth, MS and Dale C. Mitchell of Fulton, MS; sisters: Barbara Mitchell Greenhaw of Pickton, Ohio and Letha Jane Mitchell Robbins (Eddie) of Kossuth, MS; other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by husband of 63 years: Walter Carroll Morton, Sr.; sons-In-Law: Gary Foy and James Daughtry; father: Lionel D. Mitchell, Sr.; mother: Letha Letson Mitchell; sister-in-Law: Janice Smith Mitchell and brother-in-Law: Nelson Greenhaw. Bro. Shane Evetts, Bro. Steve Byrd and Dr. Kara Blackard will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Joey Daughtry, Matthew Daughtry, Jae Morton, Bart Taylor, Tim Harmon, Putter Hamlin and Tanner Burress.
