Funeral services for Joan Carolyn Barnes, 74 of Michie, TN. are set for Monday, August 21, 2023, at 11am at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST with interment in Dogwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 5pm-8pm and Monday, August 21, 2023, from 10am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST. Rev. Jared Hight, Rev. Donnie Waldrop and Rev. Nelson Hight will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Austin Barnes, Tedde Barnes, Jesse Barnes, Riley Darst, Alex McGowan and Randy Holland. Born October 27, 1948, in Corinth, MS., Joan passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at her home in Michie. She was a retired teacher and a member of Church of the Crossroads. Joan loved her family and friends and enjoyed shopping, having her nails done, traveling especially to the mountains, and playing with her cat, Buddy.  One of the things she always looked forward to playing Bunko and Canasta with her friends from her Sunday School Class, the Tweenagers and going on outings with them. Those left to cherish Joan's memory include her sons, Brian Barnes and wife Marcie and Scott Barnes; 6 grandchildren, Haley Darst and husband Riley, Lauren Goza, Kelby McGowan and husband Alex, Jesse Barnes and wife Haley, Tedde Barnes and Austin Barnes; 4 great grandchildren, Ryker Darst, Olivia Barnes, Rutson Darst and Stefen Twitty; sister, Jane Dean; other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Larry Barnes; daughter-in-law, Sharon Barnes, father, Alfred Holland; mother, Noma Williams Holland and brother, Larry Holland.
