Funeral services for Jimmie Ray Barnes, 76 of Rienzi, MS are set for Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11am at Magnolia Funeral Home - South Chapel with interment to follow with Military Honors at Rienzi Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 5pm-8pm at Magnolia Funeral Home - South Chapel. Born November 18, 1944 in Alcorn County, MS, Jimmie passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a retired factory worker who worked at various places including Century Electric, Tyrone, Corinthian Furniture, Bassett in Booneville and was the custodian at Rienzi Baptist Church for 27 years. Jimmie loved his family and friends and enjoyed listening to music especially The Oldies, duck hunting, deer hunting, baseball, softball, fishing and gardening. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He graduated from Rienzi High School in 1965 and was a member of the Corinth American Legion. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Rienzi Baptist Church. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mable Killough Barnes of Rienzi; sons, James Ray Barnes and wife Sherry of Burnsville, Gregory Clyde Barnes and wife Rachel of Florence, AL; 3 grandchildren, Paisley Barnes, Autumn Barnes and Collin Barnes; brothers, Calvin Barrett of Golden, MS and Donald McPherson of Ohio; sisters, Dora Miller and husband Ray of Booneville, Debbie Huchla of Dearborn, MI, Tina Rodrigues and husband Lico of Detroit, MI, Nancy McPherson and Susie McPherson both of Michigan; close friend, Robert Brooks of Booneville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Leland Barnes and his mother, Lois Sybli Cox Barnes. Pallbearers will be James Hight, Cecil Killough, Otis Huggins and Jody Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Palmer, Buddy Brooks and Jackie Robinson. Bro. Mike Moore and Bro. Charlie Cooper will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Rienzi Baptist Church Building Fund. Magnolia Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jimmie Ray Barnes.
