Funeral services for J. C. Parker, 77, of Corinth are set for Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:30AM at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Military Honors. Interment will follow in Corinth National Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 5:00pm -8:00pm and Monday, March 25, 2019 from 10:00am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home.
Born May 11, 1941, J.C. won his battle with cancer and was called to his heavenly home March 22, 2019. He was the eldest son of the late John Connor Parker and the late Ruby Martin Parker. Growing up he helped his parents on the farm raising hogs, picking cotton and pimento peppers. At the age of 16 he hitched hiked to Oklahoma to join the rodeo. In 1963 he answered the call to serve his country by the United States Army. He served boots on the ground in Vietnam on the front line with the Big Red One. He served from 1963 until 1966 and remained in the reserve until his honorable discharge in 1969. Eventually he moved to Illinois and he owned 2 different Standard Oil companies along with his wrecker service. He joined the Local 150 Midwest Operating Engineers out of Countryside, Illinois where he was a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and job steward from 1985 until his retirement in 2001. He moved back home to Mississippi and owned Parker’s Construction. His later years were spent fishing, raising chickens and goats and working auctions. In 1980 he assisted in forming the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as assistant Fire Chief. He was a long time member of Perry A. Johns American Legion Post 6, where he had served as First Vice and was currently serving on the executive committee. J. C was a member of the United State Veterans and Family Honor team. He loved his family and friends. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. J. C. is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carlean Hill Parker of Corinth; his daughter, Cindy Rhodes (Luther) of Joliet, IL; sons, Jayson Johnston (Cyndi)and Jeremy Ford (Lindsay) of Hanceville, AL; grandchildren, John Rhodes, Dyllan Shaw(Mackenzi), Justin Rhodes (Nicole), Taylor Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Hunter Shaw, Alissa Wilburn, Candance Hill, Bella Machado and Cayden Leonard; one brother, Roger Parker (Glenda); two sisters, Joan Isbell (James) and Patsy Hopkins; sister-in-law, Robin Parker of Lockport, IL and his father-in-law, Dallis Hill of Corinth. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Floyd David Parker and Jerry Allen Parker; his first wife Donna Clear Parker; his mother-in-law, Earlean Hill and his brother-in-law, Greg Hopkins. Bro. Alan Parker and Bro. Warren Jones will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be his United States Veterans and Family Honor Brothers.
