Funeral services for James Travis Burney, 84 of Corinth, MS are set for Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with interment in Dogwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 11:00 am until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home. Born August 16, 1935 in McNairy County, TN, Travis passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Stoneridge of Farmington. He drove a concrete truck for Corinth Ready Mix and later a propane truck for Pittman Brothers Gas Company until he opened his own business, Burney's Used Cars and Parts in the mid 70's, which he ran for 45+ years. Travis always raised cattle up until his wife's passing. He and his wife were the founding members of Maranatha Baptist Church which started in their garage. Travis is survived by his son, James Burney and wife Joyce of Saltillo, MS; daughters, Susan Clark and husband Harold of Clifton, TN and Lisa Byrd and husband Sims of Montgomery, TX; 8 grandchildren, Shelley Woods, Adrian Bradley, Adam Burney, Tyler Clark, Austin Clark, Trevor Green, Tyson Byrd and Trent Byrd; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Louise Carroll of Michie, TN; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Burney, Peggy Mayhall and Joanne Mayhall; brothers-in-law: William Mayhall and wife Franziska, Jack Mayhall and wife Jeanette and Frank Winters; other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie Burney; father, J.P. Burney; mother, Carrie Cox Burney; brother, A.W. Burney and a sister, Helen McDonald. Bro. Karl Mills will officiate the service. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations can be made in Travis' memory to your favorite Christian organization.
