He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was stationed at Governor’s Island, New York.
He was born August 10, 1933 in Hominy, Oklahoma and moved to Corinth early in life. He attended Corinth High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College and played football at both. He was a lifelong resident of Corinth and served his community in many capacities. He served as Corinth City Alderman, Alcorn County Chancery Clerk, Mayor of the City of Corinth and Alcorn County Sheriff. He is the owner of Holt’s Restaurant. In addition to his public service, he taught Sunday School at Tate Street Baptist Church for many years and coached YMCA football. He was a member of Tate Baptist Church, the American Legion, Forty and Eight, and the Elks Club.
