Funeral services for Hershel Lee Smith, 89 of Corinth are set for Monday, November 14, 2022, at 2:00 P.M at Strickland Church of Christ with internment in Clear Creek Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2022, from 12:00 P.M. until service time at Strickland Church of Christ. Duane Ellis, John Stevens, and Terry Smith will officiate the service. Hershel passed away on November 11, 2022, at his home. He was born on August 20, 1933, to John Henry and Ruth Jaymes Smith in Corinth, MS. In 1956 he met Dorothy Spencer. They wed in 1957, going on to have one daughter, Hope Smith. Hershel and Dorothy were happily married for sixty-five years. Hershel worked at Dean Truck Line before retiring from Kimberly Clark. Before his health declined, Hershel was an avid farmer and gardener. He was known for his delicious watermelons. He loved wood-working and being on his tractor, although his number one priority was always his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John, and Ruth; his brothers, Herman, Taylor, Amos, Milton, Gene, and Jackie; his sisters, Lucy Wilbanks, Dennie Evetts, Mildred Rorie, Etheleen King, and Betty Joe Smith; and his son-in-law, Tim Smith. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Hope; two grandsons, Justin (Amy) Smith and Ethan (Leah) Smith; and two grandchildren, Ellie Ann and Salem Lee Smith; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers; Wayne Smith, Danny Spencer, Jerry Spencer, Tim Rorie, Joey Cornelius, Brian Cornelius, and Stevie Spencer. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Hershel Lee Smith.
