Helen Loretta Jones-Verzura

Helen Loretta Jones-Verzura, 88, of Apache Junction, AZ passed away at her residence on Sunday, December 17, 2023. She was born in Corinth, MS on October 3, 1935 to the late Odis and Wilma Sarah Jones and was a registered nurse for many years. Outside of work, Helen had a deep love for her family and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Helen had a passion for reading, gardening, swimming, hiking, camping, birds, animals, sunrises, sunsets, and wildflowers. These interests brought her joy and allowed her to connect with the beauty of the world around her.  Helen’s love for the Lord shone through in everything she did, inspiring those around her to lead lives filled with kindness and grace. She will forever be missed by those who loved her. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Helen will be Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 10 AM at Henry Cemetery officiated by Bro. Warren Jones. Interment will follow in Henry Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home - East is entrusted with the local arrangements. Those left to honor Helen’s memory include her son, Odis Parke Blankenship – Apache Junction, AZ; her daughters, Sally Lucille Scannell – Apache Junction, AZ, Wilma Leslie Milam – Columbus, MS, and Julie Annette Sharp – Corinth, MS; her grandchildren, Odis Robert Bynum, Elizabeth Love Marlar, Andrew Lance Milam, Nicholas Lee Milam, Clay Blankenship Sharp, and Anna Sharp Holder; her great-grandchildren, Aaron Lee Hilburn, McKenna Ashlee Milam, Caroline Evans Milam, Sophie Katherine Milam, John Benjamin Holder, and Thomas Blaylock Holder; several cousins, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Verzura; her grandson, John Morgan Mashburn; and her grandparents, William Franklin and Odie Lee Patton Jones.
