Harold Calvin Burleson, 69, of Corinth, MS, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on October 12, 1948 to the late Calvin Monroe and Verna Charlene (Smith) Burleson and graduated from Alcorn Central High School in 1967. After graduating from Northeast Junior College with a degree in hotel/motel management, Harold served his country as a US Veteran in the Army while being deployed in Vietnam for 14 months. After coming back to the states Harold worked several local jobs including meat cutter at Piggly Wiggly and in housekeeping at Heritage Manor (Cornerstone) Nursing Home. He was an active member of Pleasant Hill United Pentecostal Church, the American Legion Perry A. Johns Post 6 where he served as chaplain one year, and the VFW Post 3962. Harold loved working with his flowers and plants and spending time with his cat, Smokey. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family and friends. Visitation is scheduled from 5-9 pm Monday, May 14, 2018 and from 9 am till service time Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Pleasant Hill United Pentecostal Church. A celebration of Harold's life will be held at 11 am Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Pleasant Hill United Pentecostal Church officiated by Charlie Browning, Sis. Jane Dillingham, and Rev. Dwayne Kirk. Interment with military honors will follow in Corinth National Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Ellis Gray, Ryan Whitley, Hershell McCalla, Billy Russell, Lance Harrell, James Vuncannon, James Burleson Jr., and Malik Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legionnaires. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Those left to honor Harold's memory include his beloved wife of 23 years: Sheree Burleson of Corinth; his son: Danny Crum of Corinth; his grandson: Wyatt Paul Crum; his brother: James Ray Burleson (Pearl) of Brandon, MS; his mother-in-law: Sue Evelyn Stewart of Roanoke, VA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a host of step-children, step-grandchildren, step-greatgrandchildren and a special friend: Ann Vuncannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Billy Wayne Stewart; his sister: Nelda Pennington; his nieces: Mary King and Brenda Balyeat; his paternal grandparents: A.V. and Molly Burleson and by his maternal grandparents: William and Amanda Lillian Smith who raised him as a boy.
