Ann departed this earth for her heavenly home on March 3, 2025 at Dogwood Assisted Living Center. She was born January 12, 1935 , and was the youngest of 11 children born to Dolphus and Anna Mattox Crow. She was born at the family home and raised in the Hatchie community, which she dearly loved. She always said she was a Hatchie girl and would never want to live anywhere else in the world.
Ann graduated from Kossuth High School, Northeast MS Community College and then Business School in Memphis, TN. She was a bookkeeper at a bank in downtown Corinth when she met the love of her life, Billy J. Martin, who was on leave from the Air Force. They married in 1961, settled in the Union Church Community, and she devoted her life to raising their four children. They were married for 52 1/2 years when Bill passed away in 2014.
She was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church. She cherished her church and church family, where her ancestors had been members. For many years, Ann was over the cemetery fund at Union, and always made sure the cemetery was kept up with tender loving care. She lived in close proximity so she would go twice daily to check on things and make sure the grounds were well maintained.
She loved taking the grandchildren riding around the Hatchie Road and she would tell them stories of her childhood. She instilled a love of the land in her children and grandchildren.
She was a wonderful cook and always has a home-cooked meal every Sunday after church for the whole family. She continued this tradition and also cooked a big meal on Thanksgiving and Easter until she was 86 years old. She was always taking care of others, would take meals to the elderly and shut-ins, and was always good to go visit people. She always said if you could help people, you should.
Ann is survived by 2 sons, Billy Martin (Paula) and Clint Martin(Shae); daughter, DeAnna Carter (Stacey); daughter-in-law, Shonte Martin; 11 grandchildren, Jacob Fish (Tonya), Ashley Kodsi (Bryan), DeLauren Sweeney (D.J.), John W.
