Gladys Marie Taylor McCord died January 31, 2015 at Cornerstone Health and Rehab of Corinth at the age of 95.
She was born on September 11, 1919 to Henry Clay and Elizabeth (Marecle) Taylor in the Hinkle community. She was a homemaker, a talented seamstress, quilter, extraordinary cook, enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grands. In her younger days, she always enjoyed playing her pump organ and her piano, and was gifted with the ability to “play by ear”. However, her greatest joy was to read her Bible daily.
She had worked at a variety of occupations, but her greatest pride was being a secretary for the Alcorn County Farm Bureau for 35 years.
She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Biggersville for a number of years.
She is survived by hers sons and their wives----James Henry (Jim) and Margaret McCord of Hot Springs, AR, and Fred Andrew and Mary McCord of the Hinkle community.
Grandchildren----Lee and Rachel McCord of Hinkle, Leigh Ann and Chris Cook of Loganville, GA, Christi and Jim Lindsey of Hinkle, Cindy and Mark Monin of Hereford, AZ, and Tracy and Greg Pratt of Hot Springs, AR.
Great-Grands----Coen and Henry Lindsey, Chad and Sam Cook, Dallas and Jake Monin, Clay and Cayley Pratt
Her sisters-in-law Norma McCord of Johnson City, TN and Evelyn Taylor of Columbus, KS.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 69 years, Henry Mallard McCord.
Her sister-in-law, Clara Bridges. Her brothers-in-law, Howard Bridges and Frank McCord.
Her sisters----Mae Lucken (Clyde), Nellie Kate Green (Elmer), Annie Laura Green (Tom Henry), Edie Seago (Chester), and Vernal Miller (Roy). Her brothers----Clifton Taylor (Gladys) and Earl Taylor.
Pallbearers are Jerry Green, Mike Miller, Paul Seago, Dennis Rogers, Wayne Stutts, and Charles Lowry.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff, management, and residents of Cornerstone Health and Rehab of Corinth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Presbyterian Church (memorial fund), 488 County Road 513, Rienzi, MS.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:00 P M at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with burial in Hinkle Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 5:00 P M to 8:00 P M and Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 11:00 A M until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home.
The Rev. Nick Phillips and The Rev. Curtis Bray will officiate the service.
