Gertrude S. “Trudy” Reid passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Magnolia Regional Health Center at the age of 84.
She was born September 10, 1927 in Charitan, Iowa to the late Robert Reed and Martha Adair Stanton Mitcham. She was a lawyer. She was the 5th woman in the state of Mississippi to pass the bar exam and become a lawyer. She was also the City Judge in Biloxi , MS; the President of the Mississippi Mental Health Assoc. and Chairman of the Women Republican National Committee in Washington DC. Later in life she married Dr. Shelby Reid and they moved to Corinth where she went into law practice with Becky Phipps. She later decided to open her own practice Gertrude S. Reid Attorney at Law where she continued her law practice up to Monday, March 26, 2012 at the age of 84. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Mrs. Reid is survived by her sons: Charles Culpepper Armstrong Jr. – St. Petersburg, FL; Rev. LT Col Robert Norman Armstrong and wife Gail – Iuka, MS
3 Grandchildren: Robyn Adair Beamish and husband Chuck; Keith Mitcham Armstrong and wife Miranda, Bethany Claire Hudson and husband Jeff
4 Great Grandchildren: Charles John “Chucky” Beamish III; Faith Anna Beamish, Tristan Garvin Hudson, Aiden Adair Hudson
