Funeral services for Gerald Horner, 84, of Corinth are set for Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11am at Church of the Crossroads with interment in Magnolia Gardens with Fireman Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 5pm-8pm at Magnolia Funeral Home - EAST and Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 10am-11am at Church of the Crossroads. Bro. Donnie Waldrop, Bro. Eddie McFalls and Bro. Nelson Hight will officiate the service. The Corinth Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Born January 3, 1939 in Corinth, MS., Gerald passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo surrounded by his two sons. He was a graduate of Corinth High School. Gerald was a retired firefighter with 33 years of service with the Corinth Fire Department. He began his career part-time and worked his way to Inspector, Assistant Chief, and finally Chief for the last 9 years. Although Gerald spent his life in Mississippi, he loved exploring the world around him. He loved to travel with his wife Gean, visiting all 50 states, provinces of Canada and many countries in Europe as well as the Caribbean. While Gerald loved travelling, he was devoted to following his sons and grandsons in all their endeavors. He was a member of the Corinth Kiwanis, Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association, and the Krossroads Kollection. Gerald loved to play golf with family and friends as well as watching the pros on TV. He attended numerous golf tournaments including Tour Championships and PGA Majors. He loved following and attending Ole Miss sporting events with his two sons. Gerald was a member of the Church of the Crossroads and recently attended Baldwyn First Baptist Church with his youngest son. Singing in the church choirs and the Hight/Horner Quartet were some of his greatest form of praise to his Heavenly Father. Gerald is survived by his sons, Greg Horner and wife Lisa and Bryan Horner and wife Carmon; 4 grandsons, Colby Horner, Connor Horner and wife Katielynn, Brett Horner and Luke Horner; brother, Jack Horner; sister, Linda Vandiver; stepsister, Shirley Rhodes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Martha Ross, Bettye Lindsey, Mary Rowsey and husband Sammy and Bud Rickman and wife Anita; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Gean Horner; father, Ed Horner; mother, Cleo Gann Horner and stepmother, Bertie Mae Horner. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Gerald Horner.
